Picking up directly where first film in 2004 ended. This film is set ten years after the Feng Shui , the ‘cursed bagua’ went into possession of Lester (Martin), a jack-of-all-trades. He is willing to do every single job offered to him, even dirty and illegal works. But after the arrival of the ‘cursed bagua’ in his life, everything is about to change. But soon, he realizes that all the luck he is getting has deadly consequences. On the other hand, the previous owners of the ‘bagua’ are being drawn together by the curse. It’s as if their luck has back fired against them. Can Joy (Aquino) save them from the deadly curse of ‘Lotus Feet’ , even if the curse has spawned another force- Lotus Feet’s niece- who is also set to take more souls and start a whole new cycle of terror?
The movie itself is quite good (we already knew that before because Chito Roño is helming it. When we reached the cinema, I managed to get myself to the comfiest location and middle-est location because I want to watch the movie in the most comfy way because I knew it was gonna be good.
The performances done by the Martin’s (Coco and Carmi) were outstanding. The lotus feet still has its powers and so does its relative. The story’s first part was great and amazing but the comedy bits they added literally destroyed the moments. The people who wanted to watch the movie wants horror and comedy is just gonna ruin it. The ending was somehow already expected (when you’re already in that scene).
The cinematography of the movie is amazing but it was ruined by the film’s editor (I’m sorry to say it). But there was some scenes that could have been cut better (using editing software). The effects are also not good. Though the credits scene was something new to the Philippines, it was not executed properly, another fail to the editor because of the poorly edited post-credits scene.
The acting performances by the cast was highly praiseworthy and could have won some awards if it wasn’t for its competitors in the film festival. The story of Lester is well written and so does the last parts. The ending just didn’t reached the too high expectations of the viewers. The music will enthrall the watchers but there is literally going to happen in the pictures. It could have been done in a way where the lotus feet is making Joy suffer too much from destroying the bagua. But there wasn’t that scene. It was just her destroying the bagua and the music is just carrying us into that feeling.
Feng Shui is a sequel that is amazing and enthralling. But overall, the movie will not scare you too much thanks to the false-scares they added. The movie is ruined by comedy. The acting performances were amazing and so does the cinematography, the direction, the story, the music but not the editing. If I’d rate it from 1 to 10, I’d give it an 8.
If you’d want to watch this movie, go. Just don’t expect too much horror. And also, it was rated R-13. That’s it. Say good bye to the holidays! Its almost over!
